Sophomore Sarah Bendzick and freshman Joyce Li of St. Margaret's Episcopal School in California took third and fourth in the opening heat of the Division 5 girls competition at the CIF-Southern Section prelims at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut. Bendzick and Li both clocked 21:38.4 to help St. Margaret's prevail by a 44-54 margin against Flintridge Prep.
