Look out for the Redondo cross country teams: they will be a double-threat at the CIF Southern Section finals.

The Palos Verdes and Mira Costa squads will also have dual representation as part of a South Bay group that includes five girls team qualifiers, four boys team qualifiers and three individual qualifiers for next week’s CIF finals.

But it was Redondo that opened eyes at Saturday’s CIF prelims.

The Redondo boys won their Division II heat with 40 points and the fastest Division II team time of the day, and the Redondo girls turned in a performance that coach Bob Leetch said might have been a school record on the vaunted Mt. San Antonio College course.
